GERRIT B. FEEKES Funeral services for Gerrit B. Feekes, 77, who died Sunday at the Sioux Center hospital after several months' illness, were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carmel Reformed church, with Rev. Gerald Heemstra officiating. Interment was in the Carmel cemetery. The Cooperative Funeral Service of Sioux Center was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Feekes was born August 1 1888, at Carmel and lived in that vicinity all his life. He was married to Johanna Borgman in November, 1912, at Carmel and they famed near there. Mrs. Feekes died June 21, I960. Survivors include three daughters, Tracy (Mrs. Tony De Jong) of Rock Valley, Bernice (Mrs. Howard Leowen) of Alton and Dorothy (Mrs. Richard H. Van Voorst) of Sioux Center; four brothers, Nick of Shelden, Gradus and William both of Rock Valley, and Opke of Sioux Center and three sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Schoep, Mrs. William Van Berkum and Mrs. Neal Vonk all of Rock Valley. There are 13 grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, a sister, Mrs. Bastian Schenk, and a brother, John. Sioux Center News 1966-01-20.
