Bio

Lee Davis (or David) Stratton was one of 7 children of Alexander Mosby Statton and his second wife, Susan Josephen McGary. Lee was the twin of Molly Josephene Stratton, according to Lee's daughter. It is believed that he was born on 17 Jun 1867 and that the birth date on his death certificate is incorrect. Lee Stratton was born on a farm in the Milburn area of Ballard Co, KY, and lived there with his family until age 17 or 18. He thought he could make a better living from farming in Hunt Co., TX, so he moved there around 1884 at the age of 17 or 18. The move to Texas was probably with his parents and their whole family. Lee Stratton was married twice, and he had 9 total children. He first married Francis M. (or Elizabeth) Byrd on Dec 10, 1893 in Hunt Co, TX. They had two children, but she died before 1900. Their children were: Gladys Pearl (1895-1958), and Lavada Elizabeth (1897-1918). After Francis' death, Lee and his two kids moved in with his brother, J.C., and J. C.'s wife, who also lived in Hunt Co. Lee later married Minnie McElyea in 1903. They had 7 additional children, as follows: Harden Alexander (1902-1974), Molly Velma (1905-1970), Carl Leon (1908-1922), Monty Franklin (1912-1982), Freddie Roland (1915-1995), Leslie David (1918-1983), and Susie Lucille (1921-1994). Lee Stratton and his brother, Sidney Stratton, married McElyea sisters. Lee Stratton died at the age of 60 of pneumonia. He was a retired farmer in Celeste, TX.
