Bio

Susie Lucille Stratton Steen was one of seven children of Lee Davis Stratton (1867-1930) and Minnie Aster Corine McElyea (1884-1971). Her full-siblings were: Hardin Alexander (1902-1974), Mollie Velma (1905-1970), Carl Leon (1908-1922), Monty Franklin Pierce (1912-1982), Freddie Roland (1915-1995), and Leslie Davis (1918-1983). Lucille Stratton had two half-sisters by her father's, Lee Davis Stratton's, first marriage to Frances Elizabeth Byrd, who died about 1899. These two half-sisters were; Gladys Pearl (1895-1958) and Lavada Elizabeth (1897-1918). Susie Stratton was the youngest of all these children. Susie Stratton was named for her grandmother, Susan McGary Stratton, from Ballard County, KY. Susie Stratton married J. S. Steen on 5 Feb 1944 in Rockwall, TX, and they had only one child, Ricky Lynn Stratton, who died in an auto accident at age 19. Susie Stratton Steen apparently lived her entire live in the Hunt County area of Texas. Susie was a great person, family oriented, and was interested in the genealogy of the Stratton family.
