Bio

Gladys Pearl Stratton was the oldest of two daughters of Lee Davis Stratton and Frances Elizabeth Byrd. Pearl's full sister was Lavada Elizabeth Stratton (1897-1918). When Pearl's mother died about 1899, Lee Davis Stratton remarried to Minnie Aster Corine McElyea, and they had seven more children. Gladys Pearl Stratton married Provine Newton Rhodes on 20 Mar 1920 in Celeste, TX. They had six children (4 girls and 2 boys), and Gladys and Provine were later divorced. The six children were: J. D. (b.1921); Earl Emerson (b. 1922); Lavada Louise (1924-1935); Mattie Frankie (b. 1927); Minnie Frances (b. 1927); Winnie Margarete (b. 1929).
