Herald Coaster, November 26, 1992: Funeral services for Roy W. Kettler, 68, of Rosenberg, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at St. John's United Church, 1513 West St., with Rev. Donald Kolkmeier officiating. Mr. Kettler was born Jan. 9, 1924 in Beasley to Henry and Emma Kettler. He passed away Nov. 25 at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed in Friedens United Church of Christ in Beasley. At the time of his death, he was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Rosenberg. Mr. Kettler served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He retired from LCISD on Jan. 31, 1991 after 21 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, nephew, and great-nephew. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgie Kettler of Rosenberg; two sons, Roy Allen Kettler and wife, Beth, of San Antonio, and Troy William Kettler of Rosenberg; a granddaughter, Megan Kettler of San Antonio; two brothers, Alfred Kettler and wife, Elizabeth, of Richmond, and Lonnie Kettler and wife, Dorothy, of Rosenberg; four sisters, Edna Rose of Beasley, Emma Lee Marek and husband, Edwin, of Rosenberg, Ella Mae Hodges and husband, Cecil, of Woodville, and Hilda Fae Sabrsula of Fairchild; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Buddy Welch, Verlie Sherril, Gilbert Sliva, Byron Baker, Jimmy Smith, and Edwin Kostka. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Renfro, Daniel Kocick, Morris Cloudt, and Julius Hanzelka. Friends may call at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Home.
