Whitney Messenger Thursday, January 1, 1988 EARL SHELLEY Mr. Earl Shelley, age 86 of Whitney, died Sunday, December 27 in Whitney. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, at the Marshal and Marshall Chapel, Rev. Doug Shelley, Rev. Eddie Booth and Rev. Elgin Blevins officiating, burial in the Whitney Cemetery. Mr. Shelley was born August 21, 1901 in Fort Graham Community near Whitney, the son of Joseph Williams and Sarah Jane Caughron Shelley. He grew up in the Whitney area. Lived in Lueders and worked in the Oil Field. He retired and moved back to Whitney in 1961. He married Fannie Mae Petty, December 23, 1919 and she died September 6, 1977. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Hoadley Richard Shelley of Fort Worth died in 1978 and Olin Otis Shelley in 1928 as an infant. He was a Deacon in the Missionary Baptist Church in Whitney. He is survived by 5 children, Jessie Belee Berryhill of Whitney, Rosa Mae Barone of Cleburne, Rev. Doug Shelley of Victoria, Helen Pippin of Whitney and Olga Joyce Jones of Whitney. Two brothers, Hershal Shelley of California and Roland Shelley of Whitney, one sister, Novella Barnes of Whitney, 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
