Whitney Messenger December 1957 FINAL RITES FOR MRS. SARAH JANE SHELLEY Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Whitney for Mrs. Sarah Jane Shelley, 86, who died here Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J.D. Barnes . Rev. Fred DeVaney officiated, assisted by Rev. F.E. Weller. Burial was in Fort Graham Cemetery. Mrs. Shelley had 121 direct descendents. She was born in Benton County, Ark. She moved to Hill County in 1895 and had lived here ever since. She was married to J.W Shelleyin 1888. He died in 1946. Mrs. Shelley was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are five sons, J.P. Shelley, L.O. Shelley and R.H. Shelley all of Whitney, A.P. Shelley of Fresno, Calif., and J.E. Shelley of Luedera, Texas: two daughters; Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Jesse Stansberry, both of Whitney: 32 grandchildren, 70 greatgarndchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Shelley also reared four girls. They are now Mrs. Viola Booth of Whitney, Mrs. Mary Russo of Waco, Mrs. Maggie Crabtree of Clifton and Mrs. Pearl Marsh of Tulia.
