Whitney Messenger Thursday, September 15, 1977 Fannie Mae Shelley, age 74 of Whitney, passed away September 6 at a Whitney hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday September 8, at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney with the Rev. Douglas Shelley, Rev. Eddie Booth, Rev. H.R. Shelley officiating. Interment was at Whitney Cemetery. Mrs. Shelley was born June 15, 1903 of Whitney. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Dovie Mae Petty. She lived in Whitney most of her life except for 34 years in West Texas. She married J.E. Shelley December 23, 1919. She was a member of the Whitney Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Shelley is survived; by her husband J.E. Shelley, four daughters; Mrs. Jessie Belle Berryhill of Lueders, Texas; Mrs. Rosa Mae Barone of Cleburne; Helen Heussner and Mrs. Olga Jones of Whitney; two sons; Douglas Shelley and Hoadly Shelley of Victoria; two sisters; Mrs Chester Rance of Lueders, Texas, Mrs. Myrtle Cypert of Lubbock; three brothers; Elijah Petty and Ottis Petty of Whitney, Ben Petty of Granbury; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Rex Shelley, Garry Berryhill, Joe Barone, Duane Shelley, Linza Jones, Ricky Shelley, Rance Shelley, Bryan Genes, Cary Barone, and Brad Shelley.
