Bio

Bessie was the daughter of Johnnie Jefferson Martin and Hattie Dilley Martin. The Martins were a prominent pioneer farming family of the Phoenix community in the Hills of Yazoo County, Mississippi. She had 12 siblings as well as 4 1/2 siblings. She married Johnny Beakstle "Beak" Brown and had two children; Bobby Jean and J.B. Jr.
