Bio
Willie Martin was one of 17 children born to Johnnie Jefferson Martin. He was born in the community of Phoenix, Yazoo County, Mississippi. He was the son of JJ's second wife, Hattie Usher Dilley Martin. Both of pioneer families in the area. At 14 in 1910 he was living at home with the JJ Martin Family. He married Effie Hall Martin at 18 yrs and raised his family in Warren County Mississippi. In the Census for 1920 he was 25 with a wife andfive children and was renting the farm on which he lived. In 1930 he was farming and had eight children. He married at 17. . .
