Bio

Raymond R. Landes, 83, of Morton died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. He was born June 13, 1926, in Mackinaw to Samuel and Elsie (Schmid) Landes. He married Catherine Hines on July 19, 1969, in Morton. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Landes of Morton; one brother, Gilbert (Barbara) Landes of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mabel Adams of Salt Lake City, Utah, Florence Mabee of Peoria and Margaret (Dick) England of Circleville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. A former member of Deer Creek American Legion Post 1276, he was a World War II Army veteran. Raymond worked as a bricklayer with Otto Baum Co. Inc. in Morton, retiring in 1979, and was a member of Bricklayers Union Local 6 out of Rockford. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
