Find A Grave contributor Gary Ayers has made a suggestion: WASHINGTON - Sylvia May Faubel King, 83, formerly of 114 S. Church St., died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Maple Lawn Health Care in Eureka. Born Dec. 26, 1919, in Deer Creek to Samuel and Elsie Schmidt Landes, she married Gilbert W. Faubel on May 13, 1944, in Tulsa, Okla. He died July 14, 1969, in Eureka. She later married John W. King on Jan. 1, 1971, in Washington. He died July 10, 2002, in Eureka. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Surviving are three sons, Fredrick (and Vicki) Faubel of Peoria, Bruce (and Linda) Faubel of Ladd, and Edward Faubel of Biloxi, Miss.; one daughter, Linda (and Jack) Krisman of Washington; two stepsons, Donald (and Marianna) King and Wallace ''Wally'' (and Evelyn) King, both of Washington; two brothers, Gilbert (and Barbara) Landes of Atlanta and Raymond (and Kathryn) Landes of Morton; five sisters, Dorothy (and Jack) Krantz of Morton, Violet (and Harold) Reeser of Eureka, Mabel Adams of Salt Lake City, Margaret (and Dick) England of Circleville, Ohio, and Florence (and Tom) Mabee of Peoria; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a World War II Navy veteran, earning the rank of yeoman second class. She worked at Metamora Woodworking for many years. She later was a cook at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, retiring in the 1980s. She had been a member of Colonial Campers Club, Good Sam Camping Club and Kennel Lake Sportsman Club in Morton. She was a member of Calvary Mennonite Church, where she was active in its Women in Missions and helped for many years with the annual Mennonite Relief Sale. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at her church, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington, where military rites will be accorded. Mason-White Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. From The Peoria Journal Star, Sunday, May 11, 2003.
