Bio

Son of Samuel & Elsie N. Landes. He was the 2nd of 12 children and the oldest son. Sherman left school after the 8th grade to help support the family during the depression. He married Virginia Schmuck in 1941 and they had two children, Jim & Rae Jeanne. Sherman divorced Virginia in 1956. In 1960, Sherman met and married the true love of his life, Martha Rohrig and he adopted her son, Lothar. Sherman lost his beloved Martha on November 25th 1994, but then rejoined her on August 6th 1995. Sherman worked on the family farm and other farms growing up. From the farm to Meyer Motors as a Studebaker mechanic, Heyl Motors as a mechanic and then to Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL.
