The Republican May 1907 Goes to His Reward W. H. Buchanan of Cedar Lake Passes Away Last Thursday W. H. Buchanan of Cedar Lake passed to his reward after quite an extended illness. A year ago he suffered a paralytic stroke and since then had been able only to move about the house and two months ago he was taken with spinal trouble, which would not yield to treatment, and dissolution took place last Thursday. The funeral was held last Saturday, services being held in St James Catholic Church, Aitkin, conducted by Rev Father Wurm, and the remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery. (St.Thomas) Mr Buchanan was born in Lincoln County, Missouri, sixty-six years ago. In early life he moved to Iowa, where he lived until eight years ago, when he moved to Cedar Lake. He was the father of nine children, all living. Three live in Iowa, one in North Dakota, and five in this state. His son Frank, also of Cedar Lake, was the only one of his children living in this county. The Republican extends its condolences to the relatives in the bereavement that has come to them. William Buchanan married Margaret Jane Horan April 06, 1869, in Iowa. Of this union were twelve children. He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant children. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mary; and eight sons, William, Frank, Fred, Harry, Robert, Paul, Leo and Mark. Note: Leo died 10 August 1963.
