The Crosby Courier; Crosby, Minnesota Paul Buchanan, a former Cuyuna resident, died at Lisbon, ND on July 27 of a heart attack. He was 75 years old and had lived in Lisbon the past five years. He is survived by his wife, Mayme; two daughters, Mrs John Kelly of Waterloo, Iowa and Margaret at home; six sons, Paul and James, Minneapolis; Robert of Fargo, ND; Ronald of Waterloo, Iowa; Lloyd in the Navy and Harvey at home. Also surviving is a sister, May, and three brothers, Fred, Leo and Mark. Services and interment were in Lisbon. Paul Matthew Buchanan was the son of William Henry and Margaret (Horan) Buchanan. He was born in Gaza, O'Brien Co., Iowa and moved with his family to Cedar Lake, Minn. in 1899. His father died in 1907 and his mother died in 1933 in Cuyana, Minn. Paul was one of 12 children born to Wm and Margaret Buchanan. He was preceded in death by Charles, John and an unnamed brother all in infancy; William, Frank, Robert and Harry; he is survived by Mark, Leo,Freddie and Mary. Paul married Mayme V. (Willey) Dotson on April 12, 1937 in Palisade, Aitkin Co., Minn. She was a single mother with 3 small children; they had six children together, one dying in infancy. All of the children took the last name of Buchanan. They lived in Aitkin County, MN until the middle of the 1940's and then moved to North Dakota, where Paul was a farmer. After Paul died, his widow and youngest daughter moved to Iowa to be closer to her other members of the family. Note: Paul's brother Leo died 10 August 1963.
