Bio
Mark was born in O'Brien County, Iowa. When he was young the family moved to Minnesota. By April of 1910 he was living in Deerwood Twp, Crow Wing Co., MN. w/mother, his father had passed away three years earlier. Mark continued to live with his mother and help run the family farm. The were living in Rabbit Lake, Crow Wing Co., MN, by April of 1920 and Mark was working as a Teamster with his horses and he was an engineer at the Iron Mine. By the time of the 1930 US Census, Mark is living in Aitkin, Aitkin Co., MN, with his wife Esther and is the Proprietor of the Pool Room. His older brother Paul is also living with them and he is the manager of the same pool room. Mark, Esther and the family of 3 children moved to Jamestown, Stutsman Co., ND, before 1940. Esther teaches Music and has her own studio and Mark is an attendant at the Insane Asylum. The Brainerd Daily Dispatch; November 05, 1943; Page 5. Mark Buchanan of Jamestown, N.D. visited here Tuesday at the homes of Mrs P. Kealy, E.D. Rhodes and other friends. He also visited his brothers, Will Buchanan at Crosby, Fred Buchanan at Deerwood and Paul Buchanan and family at Palisade and with friends at Aitkin. By 1945 Mark's older brother Paul and his family had also moved to Jamestown area.
