Ludvik J. Vanek, 85, Dies; Rites held Monday Ludvik J. Vanek, 85, of West died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday in a Hillsboro hospital. Requiem mass was at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant assisted by Rev. Pechal of Abbott. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Vanek was a retired farmer. He was born in Fayette County but had been in the West area the past 49 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and KJT Lodge No. 31 of West. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Willie (Adell) Bezdek of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Louis (Tracy) Sulak of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Jerry (Estelle) Stanislav of West and Mrs. Henry (Anita) Bezdek of Alice; four sons, Frank Vanek of West, Ben L. Vanek of Itasca, Louis C. Vanek of Penelope and Edwin L. Vanek of Oakland, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Kohl of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. France3s Chincow of Moody, Mrs. Albina Zapalac of West and Mrs. Molly Semrod of Dallas; one brother, Louis Vanek of Sweet Home; and 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bill Bezdek, Daniel Vanek, Johnny Vanek, Jerry W. Stanislav, Allan Vanek and Alvin Blahuta. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 77, No. 49, Ed. 1, Friday, March 29, 1968, page 1.
