Frank Vanek, 69, of West, died in West Community Hospital Sunday morning. Rosary was recited on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Kotch Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Vanek was born in Praha and lived in Lockney for 21 years before moving to West 12 years ago. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He belonged to SPJST Lodge No. 6 in Cottonwood. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christine Vanek; two sons, Allen Vanek and Steve Vanek, both of West; two daughters, Mrs. Frankie (Patsy) CdeBaca of Arlington and Mrs. Jerry (Maxine) Kazda of Abbott; his mother, Mrs. L.J. Vanek of West; three brothers, Ben Vanek of Itasca, Louis Vanek of Penelope, and Eddie Vanek of West; four sisters, Mrs. Willie (Adele) Bezdek of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Lewis (Tracy) Sulak of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Jerry (Estelle) Stanislav of West and Mrs. Henry (Anita) Bezdek of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jerry W. Stanislav, Bill Bezdek, Dan Vanek, Johnny Vanek, Barnard Vanek, and Bobby Munn.
