John Vanek Dies At Gholson John Vanek, age 89, passed away at his farm home near Gholson at 11 a.m. Sunday, December 3rd. Funeral services were conducted here at the Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. E. J. Polcak officiating, burial in the Catholic cemetery. Deceased was born in Austria, coming to the United States 70 years ago. For the past 20 years he had been a resident of the Gholson community. Surviving are 7 daughters, Mrs. Sophie Karbel of Yoakum, Mrs. Mary Albrecht, Flatonia, Mrs. Annie Kohl, El Campo, Mrs. Julia Rudolph, South Dakota, Mrs. Frances Coffer, Waco, Mrs. Mollie Semrad, Dallas, Mrs. Albina Zapalac, West; 3 sons, John Vanek of San Antonio, L.J.
