Filomena Vanek Dies In West Mrs. Ludvik (Filomena) Vanek, 93, of West died Saturday afternoon in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Vanek was born in Praha and lived in the West area the past 65 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and KJZT Society No. 31. Survivors include three sons, Ben Vanek of Itasca, Louis Vanek of Penelope and Edwin Vanek of West; four daughters, Mrs. Willie (Adele) Bezdek of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Louis (Tracy) Sulak and Mrs. Henry (Anita) Bezdek, both of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. Jerry (Estelle) Stanislav of West; one sister, Sister Rufina Blahuta of San Antonio; 28 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers Alphonse Vanek, Stevie Vanek, Daniel Vanek, Robert Nunn, James Bedzek, Wayne Stanislav. Honorary pallbearers: Alvin Blahuta, Charlie Blahuta, George Blahuta, Marvin Bezdek, Bill Bedzek, Marvin Bezdek, Bill Bedzek, Allen Vanek. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 87.
