Bio

John F. Nemecek, 82, partner in the Nemecek Brothers Meat Market in West and an organizer of the West Fair and Rodeo Association, died Saturday, July 27, 1985 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Sunday by Msgr. George Doskocil in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Msgr. B.J. Zientek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Nemecek was born January 20, 1903, in West and lived in West all of his life. He was married to Leona Polasek in 1932 at West. He was a past president of the West Longhorn Club and a retired Fire Chief of West Fire Department. Mr. Nemecek was the last surviving charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305. He was a member of the SPJST Lodge No. 36. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West where he served as an usher. He is survived by his wife, Leona; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Mary Cecile) Greene of West; two brothers, Raymond Nemecek and Edward Nemecek, both of West; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Kubala and Mrs. Christine Hruska, both of West; and one grandson, Clif Greene of West. Pallbearers were T.C. Nors, Richard Hlavenka, Ernest Svrcek, Gene Lednicky, Joe Mazanec, and Mark Barton.
