Prominent West Citizen Dies Wednesday Mrs. Marie Frances Jerabek, age 83, of 401 N. Davis Street, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, at West Community Hospital. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Msgr. George Doskocil officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. B,J, Zientek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Jerabek was born Dec. 20, 1899, in West where she lied all her life. She was the daughter of Ernest and Frances Nemecek. She was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy in San Antonio. She married E.J. Jerabek June 6, 1923. Mr. Jerabek was a car dealer in West for many years. He died Aug. 20, 1961. Mrs. Jerabek was a member of KJZT No. 11 where she was a past president. She was a member of KJT and a past president of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and belonged to the Altar Society. She was active during her lifetime in many civic and community functions. She served as a volunteer at West Rest Haven, where she was also a member of the board of directors. Mrs. Jerabek was a past president of West Community Hospital Auxiliary and had served as a volunteer since the hospital opened. Her expertise in the art of making kolaches was well known throughout the state. Mrs. Jerabek taught classes in kolache making, at McLennan Community College in Waco. Her baking skills also brought her recognition in the Houston Chronicle and Dallas Morning News. Mrs. Jerabek is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Clara) Carter of West, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Kunetka of Houston and Mrs. Jerry (Dorothy) Nichols of Bedford; three brothers, John Nemecek, Raymond Nemecek and Edward Nemecek, all of West; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Kubala and Mrs. Christine Hruska, both of West; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
