Bio

Mr. Harry N. Marak, 83, of West died Thursday, August 21, 2003, at his residence. He was born December 6, 1919 in Hill County, son of Frank J. and Agnes Gerik Marak, and attended Alligator Creek and St. Mary’s schools in West. He retired in 1988 as a farmer and rancher and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption, Catholic Workman, KJT Society #31 and Knights of Columbus Council #2305. He married Martha J. Kral October 19, 1942 in West, and she preceded him in death April 6, 2001. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Uptmore, September 5, 1990; one brother, Frankie Marak; and two sisters, Mollie Vanzura and Edith Sulak. Survivors include: two sons, Harry Lee Marak and wife, Debby, and Marty Marak and wife, Cheryl, all of West; one son-in-law, Alan Uptmore of West; five brothers, Arthur Marak, Alfred Marak and Bob Marak, all of West, Raymond Marak of Ennis and Stanley Marak of Greenville; four sisters, Evelyn Vrbas, Henrietta Snokhous, Helen Klish and Rose Kubacak, all of West; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rosary was recited at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Church with Rev.
