Edith Agnes Marak Sulak, age 86 of Arlington, formerly of West, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, October 23, 2001. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington. Funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington. Burial followed at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Edith was born January 21, 1915 in West. The oldest of 13 children born to Frank and Agnes Gerik Marak, she moved with her husband and children to Arlington in 1951. As one of the original members of St. Maria Goretti Parish, she was active in the Altar Society and subsequent Women’s Guild. She was honored as the recipient of St. Maria Goretti’s Mother of the Year (later known as Church Woman of the Year) for 1966. In 1967, she began a short career in food service for the AISD. It was during this time that she had the great pleasure of working at Veda Knox Elementary with her daughter’s faculty and “special” fellow students. In her later years, Edith loved her association with St. Maria Goretti’s Leisure Club and Brown Bag Bunch, particularly helping with their annual Bazaar. She was a member of the KJZT, a Czech fraternal organization, for over 50 years. She was a wonderful seamstress, a gourmet cook and the best ever Kolache baker. She enjoyed working in her garden, tending to her flower beds and attending daily mass. But her pride and joy was her family. A special thank you to Vitas Hospice Care and Visiting Angels for all the special love and care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril M. Sulak; a daughter, Barbara Jean Sulak, a son, Ronald Joseph Sulak and a sister, Molly Marak Vanzura. Survivors include six daughters, Joan O’Donnell and her husband Brian of Coppell, Dolores Whitney and her husband Don of Indianapolis, Indiana and Bernadette Sulak, Mary Celeste Sulak, Suzanne Sulak and Donna Sulak, all of Arlington; four sons, Cyril Sulak and his wife Gloria of Grand Prairie, E. Wayne Sulak and his wife Angela of Arlington, Ted Sulak of Pantego and Anthony Sulak of Alvarado; four sisters, Evelyn Vrbas, Henrietta Snokhous, Helen Klish and Rose Kubacak, all of West; seven brothers, Arthur Marak, Harry Marak, Alfred Marak and Bob Marak, all of West, Frankie Marak of Abbott, Raymond Marak of Ennis and Stanley Marak of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
