Mr. Frank E. Marak, 76, of Abbott died Wednesday, September 11, at a Hillsboro hospital. He was born January 27, 1926 in West, son of Frank J. and Agnes Marak. He graduated from St. Mary’s School in West. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Agnes Marie Pustejovsky October 27, 1956 in Abbott. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He was involved in his community and was a former city councilman and was mayor of Abbott. He was a member of K.J.T. Society No. 107, where he served as treasurer for 25 years. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 11230, Catholic Workman, VFW Post No. 4819 and served as director of Hill County Farm Bureau and as secretary of Abbott Gin Company. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Abbott. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Sulak and Molly Vanzura. Survivors include: his wife; son, Ronald Frank Marak and wife, Karen of Abbott; two daughters, Karen Stanislav and husband, Mike of Waco and Diane Kallus and husband, Stephen of Waco; six brothers, Arthur Marak, Alfred Marak, Harry Marak and Bobby Marak, all of West, Raymond Marak of Ennis and Stanley Marak of Greenville; four sisters, Evelyn Vrbas, Henrietta Snokhous, Helen Klish and Rose Kubacak, all of West; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, September 13, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 14, at the church with Rev. Jerry Ryan as celebrant. Military graveside rites followed at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott, conducted by VFW Post No. 4819 of West. The Hillsboro Reporter, Hillsboro, Texas, September, 2002
