Bio

Evelyn (Marak) Vrbas, age 89, of West, passed away late Monday evening, June 17, 2013 in Bellmead. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Evelyn was born April 19, 1924 in West, the daughter of Frank J. and Agnes (Gerik) Marak. She attended St. Mary's School in West. On June 11, 1945 she was united in marriage to Bernard A. "Barney" Vrbas in West. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2003. Evelyn was a homemaker and mother. She also worked as a seamstress for Wood's manufacturing in Waco and Lorch's manufacturing in West. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic church of the Assumption. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughter of America Court #829, St. Anne's Altar Society, and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking her delicious kolaches. She always had a jar of chocolate chip cookies for the grandchildren. She especially loved spending time with her family and entertaining at her house. Evelyn is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arthur Marak, Harry Marak, Alfred Marak, Stanley Marak and Frankie Marak; and sisters, Edith Sulak, Mollie Vanzura and Henrietta Snokhous. Survivors include two sons, Daryl Vrbas and wife Suzanne of Germantown, TN and Richard Vrbas and wife Margie of West; two daughters, Marsha Nemec and husband Charles of West and Cindy Gerik and husband Jimmy of Dallas; brothers, Raymond Marak and Bob Marak; sisters, Helen Klish and Rose Kubacak; grandchildren, Lindsey Tashie and husband P.J., Jordan Vrbas, Kurt Vrbas and wife Caryn, Craig Vrbas , Carla Rodenbucher and husband Ed, David Nemec and wife Elizabeth, Natalie Nemec and friend Jon Repella and Haley Gerik; great grandchildren, Pete, Hobson, Ellie and Slocumb Tashie, Will Vrbas, Jillian, Dylan and Bryce Nemec, and Ryan Rodenbucher; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
