Bio
Louis Hutyra, age 97, of Route 2, West, passed away Tuesday evening in a West nursing home. Rosary was recited by Msgr. George Doskocil 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, with Rev. Isidore Rozycki, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Hutyra was born August 8, 1895 in Tours and had lived in the West/Abbott area all of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West and the K.J.T. Society No. 31 of West. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He married Christine Cepak on June 9, 1919 at West. She preceded him in death January 10, 1989. Survivors include two sons, Joe Hutyra of Bellmead and George Hutyra of Waco; three daughters, Mrs. Adolph (Carolyn) Gerik, Mrs. Irene McGee and Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Schutza, all of West; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Paul Hutyra, Jeff Hutyra, Tommy Gerik, David Gerik, Mike McGee and Ronnie Gerik. Kotch Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements. The West News, West, Texas.
