John J. Hejl Rites Held John J. Hejl, 84, of Ross, who co-owned a cotton gin at Ross for 30 years, died Sunday morning in West Community Hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mr. Hejl was born in Czechoslovakia, came to the United States at the age of 9 and was a longtime resident of the West and Ross areas. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and married Sallie Pechacek in 1921. She died in 1973. Survivors include one son, Bill Hejl of Ross; three daughters, Mrs. Rudy (Irene) Barton of Waco, Mrs. Mary Bezdek of Ross and Mrs. Stanley (Helen) McDonald of Woodenville, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Antonia Nors of West and Mrs. Christine Marek of Marlin; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Donald Barton, Paul Barton, Bill Hejl, Jr., Mark Hejl, Tom Bezdek, and Steve Sullivan.
