Bio

Mrs. William (Amalie) Gerik, 78, a lifelong resident of West, died Monday morning in West Community hospital. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday, October 15 at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the Rev. Gene Shepard as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Gerik was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and SPJST Lodge 54. Her husband, William, died August 4, 1967. Survivors include five sons, Johnny Gerik of Arlington, Daniel Gerik of West, Marvin Gerik, Ben Gerik and Frank Gerik, all of West; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Nestra of Abbott, Miss Irene Gerik and Mary Jane Gerik, both of West; two brothers, Frank J. Karlik, Sr. and Albin Karlik, both of West; three sisters, Mrs. Emil (Mary) Gerik of Aquilla, Miss Agnes Karlik and Mrs. Annie Cernosek, both of West; and 14 grandchildren.
