Bio

Daniel J. Gerik, age 58 of West, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 1993 in a Waco hospital. Rosary was recited by Msgr. George Doskocil, 7:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as Celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Gerik was born July 19, 1934 in West and had lived in West all of his life. He graduated from West High School and was employed by General Tire for the past 35 years. He was a member of the K.J.T. Society No. 31, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305, the V.F.W. Post No. 4819 and St. Mary's Catholic Church, all in West. He also served in the U.S. Army as a medic. Mr. Gerik married Henrietta Nors, September 23, 1960 at West. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta of West; two sons, Richard Gerik of Hewitt and Mark Gerik of Houston; one daughter, Dianne Gerik of West; four brothers, Johnny, Frankie, Bernard and Marvin Gerik, all of West; three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Doris) Nesrsta of Abbott, Irene and Mary Jane Gerik, both of West; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Marvin Gerik, Jr., Larry Nesrsta, David Gerik, Steve Nesrsta, Chris Gerik, Edward Nesrsta and Calvin Gerik. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
