Schumm, 23 of Hastings; License issued September 1st. ===================== Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, September 24, 1964; pg. 1 Schumm - Hajny The Marriage of Miss Edna Schumm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schumm, of Blue Hill, and Robert J. Hajny, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hajny of Edgar, was solemnized on September 5, at double ring ceremony at St. Stephens Church, Lawrence. Father John Kelly officiated at the exchange of the wedding vows and offered the Nuptial Mass. Bouquets of pink carnations decorated the Altars and blue net bows marked the pews. Miss Caroline Brockman accompanied the choir who sang hymns during the Mass. Miss Janet Hajny, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Mrs. Jerome Karmazin, sister of the bride, was brides-matron and Miss Feme Mussman, a friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. They wore street length dresses of powder blue brocaded satin, made with bouffant skirts, trimmed with three small bows. They wore brocaded hats with net veils an (sic) carried bouquets of pink carnations. Miss Carol Kathman, a niece of the bride, was flower-girl. She was dressed like the other attendents (sic). Kenneth Karmazin, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a bridal gown of silk organza and Chantilly lace over taffeta, The fitted bodice featured a sabrina neckline accented by sequins and pearls. The full skirt was fashioned with lace front and back panels. Lace also edged the bottom of the gown. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink carnations. Gilbert Schumm, brother of the bride, was bestman. Lilburn and Alvin Hajny, brothers of the grooom (sic) were groomsmen. Daniel Hajny and Everett Klein ushered. A reception and dinner was served in the St. Stephens Church Hall. Assisting were the Misses Mary Ann Kathman, Sally Mazour, Janet Karmazin, Janette Peterson, Carol Kramer, Marietta and Virginia Himmelberg, Cheryl Alber, Margie Benker, Linda Brandt, Josephine and Katie Kimminau; Mesdames Wm. Mazour, Steve Krebsbach, Ed Kitten, Ray Robinson, Norbert Brockman, Neal Danehey and Bill Kohmetscher. The bride is a graduate of Hastings High School and is employed at Woolworths in Hastings. The groom is a graduate of Clay Center High School and is farming. Following a wedding trip to the Colorado Mountains, Mr. and Mrs. Hajny will be at home at Clay Center, Nebraska. ========================== Transcribed from unknown newspaper and date: Clay Center --- Edna Marie Hajny, 51, of Clay Center died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1992 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Rosary was Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the McLaughlin Funeral Home Chapel in Clay Center. Services are Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harvard with Rev. Douglas Morin officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin's Cemetery in Deweese. Mrs. Hajny was born June 19, 1941 in Webster County. She attended Rosemont rural country school and graduated from Hastings Senior High School. On Sept. 5, 1964, she married Robert J. Hajny at St. Stephen's Catholic Church near Lawrence. They lived in Clay Center. She worked at Woolworth's Dutton-Lainson and Dalton Café all in Hastings and in the Clay County Clerk's in Clay Center from 1973 -92. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its Altar Society, was active in fund raising for the American Cancer Society and was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Survivors are her husband; one son, Jamie Hajny of Clay Center; two daughters, Shelly and Kristy, both of Clay Center; her mother, Adeline Schumm of Blue Hill; four brothers, Leroy Schumm of Lawrence, William Schumm of Hastings, Leonard Schumm of Blue Hill and Gilbert Schumm of Deweese; and five sisters, Eileen Wescoat of Lexington, Alvira Kathman of Blue Hill, Lorene Klein and Josephine Mangers, both of Roseland and Betty Classen of Glenvil. ================= Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, August 27, 1992; pg. 8 ENDA HAJNY OBITUARY Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Harvard, Nebraska on Monday, August 24 for Edna M. Hajny of Clay Center. Father Doug Morin celebrated the Mass of the Ressurection (sic) with Fred Schulte as Acolyte and Nancy Sapp as organist. Pallbearers were Greg Utecht, Mark Hajny, Randy Klein, Mike Hajny, Tim Karmazin and Charlie Menke. Interment was at the St. Martin Cemetery near Deweese, Nebraska. Edna Marie Hajny was born June 19, 1941 in Webster County, Nebraska to William and Adeline Himmelberg Schumm and departed this life August 20, 1992 in Aurora at the age of 51 years, 2 months and 1 day. She attended school in Rosemont and graduated from Hastings High School. While in Hastings, she worked as a clerk for Dutton Lainson Co., Woolworth store and also worked as a waitress in Dalton's cafe. On September 5. 1964 she married Robert Joseph Hajny in St. Stephen's Catholic Church near Lawrence. This union was blessed with four children. The family made their home in Clay Center. She was employed in the office of County Clerk of Clay County in November 1973 and retired from that position January 17, 1992. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Harvard and a member of the Altar Society. She was active participant of fund drives for the American Cancer Society and both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts programs. Edna was preceded in death by her father; a son, Kris Allen (sic); sister: Martha Karmazin; brother: Sylvester and infant brother Joseph. She is survived by her husband, Robert; children Jamie, Shelly and Kristy, all at home; mother: Adeline Schumm of Blue Hill; sisters: Eileen Wescoat of Lexington; Alvira Kathman of Blue Hill; Lorene Klein and Josephine Mangers of Roseland; Betty Classen of Glenvil; brothers: Leroy Schumm of Lawrence; Leonard Schumm of Blue Hill; William Schumm of Hastings and Gilbert Schumm of Deweese.
