Transcribed from unknown newspaper and date: Leonard J. Schumm, 53, of Blue Hill, Nebraska, died Monday, October 14, 1996, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Rosary is Wednesday, October 16, 1996, at 8:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska. Services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's with Father Dennis Hunt officiating. Judy Schroer will be organist and Sherri Buescher will be song leader. Pallbearers will be James Hajny, Thomas Mangers, Patrich Wescoat, Jerry Karmazin, Larry Klein, Ryan Schumm, William Schumm, and Daniel Menke. Burial will be at St. Stephen's Cemetery. Memorials are directed to St. Stephen's Church or the donor's choice. Merton-Butler Mortuary of Blue Hill is in charge of arrangements. Leonard was born August 15, 1943, in Webster County, Nebraska, to William and Adeline (Himmelberg) Schumm. He was a lifetime resident of the area and farmed all his life. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. He is survived by two brothers, Leroy of Lawrence and Gilbert of Deweese, Nebraska; five sisters, Eileen Wescoat, Lexington, Nebraska, Alvira Kathman, Lawrence, Lorene Klein and Josephine Mangers, both of Roseland, Nebraska, and Elizabeth Classen of Glenvil, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
