The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Friday, September 14, 1923; pg. 1 Married Wm. Schum (sic), son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schum (sic), and Miss Adaline Himmelburg (sic), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Himmelburg (sic) old residents in the neighborhood southwest of Lawrence, in Webster county (sic), were married at St. Stephens Catholic Church last Monday morning in the presence of a number of friends. The newly weds gave thier (sic) numerous young friends a dance at Parish hall in the evening which was attended by a large crowd. The Rosemont orchestra furnished the music. ∼ The Blue Hill Leader (Blue Hill, NE), Thursday, November 12, 1964; pg. 1 William Schumm Sr. Services Thursday William Schumm, Sr., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 1, 1964. He had appeared to be in good health, but became ill in Lawrence Sunday evening and was taken to the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings where he passed away shortly after arrival. Funeral services were held at 9:30 on Thursday morning at St. Stephen's Church south of Lawrence. Father John Kelly offered the High Mass and officiated at the burial services in St. Stephen's cemetery (sic). Pallbearers were six nephews, George Schumm, Gary Himmelberg, Wilford Jorn, Kenneth Himmelberg, Jerome Kolbet and Donald Himmelberg. William Schumm, son of Joseph and Anna Bolte Schumm was born on a farm southwest of Lawrence on July 9, 1900, and passed away at Hastings on November 1, 1964 at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 23 days. He lived in the Lawrence community all his life. Mr. Schumm and Adeline Himmelberg were united in marriage on September 10, 1923 at St. Stephen's Church and throughout the remainder of his life, his friendliness reached out to all who knew him. Surviving him are his wife, Adeline; five sons, Leroy of Blue Hill, William, Jr. of Hastings, Sylvester, Leonard and Gilbert at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Willis Wescoat (Eileen) of Lexington, Mrs. Ralph Kathman (Alvira) of Blue Hill, Mrs. Everett Klein (Lorene), Mrs. Francis Mangers (Josephine) both of Roseland, Mrs. Jerome Karmazin (Martha) of Lawrence, Mrs. Wayne Clasen (Betty) of Hastings, Mrs. Robert Hajny of Clay Center; and 24 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph, who died in infancy. Other survivors include his brothers and sisters, Ludwig, Joseph and Miss Cecelia all of Blue Hill, George, Mrs. William J. Kolbet and Mrs. Rollie Jorn all of Lawrence, Anthony of Hastings and Miss Wilhelmina of Kearney. Relatives and friends attended the services from Lexington, Kearney, Roseland, Hastings, Grand Island, Harvard, Edgar, Clay Center, Red Cloud, Bladen, Blue Hill, Guide Rock, and Concordia, Kansas.
