Floyd was the son of William Jess Sides and Celia Caroline Key. Siblings were Huit C "Jack", Lemon, Luevada, Maude, Melissa, Mary Ellen, Wilbur Horton, Evie Mae, and Ethel Lena Sides. Floyd married Evie Burk and their children were Dorothy Belle and Hewitt Jesse Sides.
