Bio

Robert Perry Phillips was born 17 August 1856 in Bradley County, Tennessee the youngest of 10 children born to Stephen B. Phillips Jr. and Juliet [Hawkins] Phillips. Siblings: John Wesley Phillips (1832-1904), Susan Catharine [Phillips] Burk (1834-1914), Mary Elizabeth [Phillips] Mitchell (1837-1858), Edward Stephen Phillips (1839-1922), William Theador Phillips (1842-1921), Caroline Sophrona [Phillips] Meyers (1845-1903), Sarah Sopshire [Phillips] Chesnutt (1845-1918), Emily Jane [Phillips] Fowler (1850-1893) and George Washington Phillips (1853-1925). In 1866 his parents moved their family to Walker County, Georgia. Robert grew to manhood there and learned to make a living as a farmer from his father. He was married to Martha Christina Bowers abt. 1885 in Walker County, Georgia. They were the parents of Stephen Henry Phillips (1887-1970), Tula Maude [Phillips] Johnson (1892-1986), James Thomas Phillips (1895-1937), Sallie Belle [Phillips] Pittman/Mitchell (1899-1962), Mary Mae [Phillips] Hamilton? (1902-1983). He died 23 October 1939 in Walker County, Georgia and was buried in the Coulter Memorial Cemetery in Cassandra, Walker, Georgia.
