James Thomas Phillips was born 4 November 1895/1896 in Kensington, Walker County, Georgia, USA the son of Robert Perry Phillips (1856-1939)and Martha Christina Bowers Phillips (1867-1942). Siblings: Stephen Henry Phillips 1887-1970, Tula Maude Phillips [Johnson] 1892-1986, Sallie Belle Phillips [Mitchell] 1899-1962, Mary Mae Phillips [Hamilton?] 1902-1983. He died 10 August 1937 and was buried in the Coulter Memorial Cemetery in Walker County, Georgia.
