~ August Marek Dies of Pneumonia Attack August Marek, age 47, passed away at his home in the Abbott community at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 26, following an illness of several days due to pneumonia. Mr. Marek was born near West and had lived in this and the Abbott community all of his life. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church for the past 20 years. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church here Sunday, February 28, with Rev. H.E. Beseda officiating. Interment was at the National cemetery. Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Mary Marek; 3 sons, Albert, George and Jerry Marek; 3 daughters, Adelle, Irene and Pauline Marek; 6 brothers, Frank F., Vince, John, Joseph, Emil and Rudolph Marek, all of West; 1 sister, Miss Anna Marek, also of West.
