Pauline C. Helona, 87, of West, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in West. Graveside services will be 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 15, at St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at Aderhold Funeral Home. Mrs. Helona was born in Hill County, to the late August K. and Mary Frances (Macek) Marek. She attended school in the Brooken community. On January 22, 1948, she was united in marriage to Stanley J. Helona in Abbott. Pauline was a homemaker and provided in-home child care. She also worked for the Village Bakery for several years. Pauline was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and listening to Czech music. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband on June 15, 1988; brothers, George Marek, Jerry Marek, Albert Marek, and Walter Marek; sisters, Adele Nemec and Irene Haskovec; son-in-law, Ron Marshall; and great-grandson, Eamon Reese Wolfe. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Marshall of West, Kathy Tipton of Waco and Kalena Ivie and husband John of West; sisters-in-law, Valerie Mae Helona and Helen Kubacak; grandchildren, Jennifer Marshall Higgins and husband Christopher, Ronnie Hill, Tony Hill and wife DeeDee, Heather Wolfe and husband Cody, and Chyane Ivie; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Michael and Audrey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
