Bio

Jerry Marek was born April 8, 1921 in the Abbott area, the son of August and Mary Frances Marek. He married Louise Vanek in Marlin. She preceded him in death. He was a farmer until he went to serve his country during World War II. He served with the 3rd Army Division under General Patton in France, Germany, and Czechoslovakia with the rand of sergeant. He returned home to farm and went to work at the V.A. Medical Center as a nursing assistant. He retired in 1981. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 4819 and SPJST Lodge #34.
