Eleanor Anna (Stavinoha) Ernest, 97, of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022. She was born on April 2, 1925 in Needville, Fort Bend County, Texas to Vojt and Olga (Vacek) Stavinoha. Eleanor worked for the City of Richmond for many years, retiring in May of 1996. She was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Eleanor also held memberships with Sons of Hermann, KJZT, AARP, and The Happy Cousins Dance Club. In addition to dancing, Eleanor's hobbies included fishing, playing Bingo, working outdoors, sewing, crocheting, traveling, and working puzzles. Eleanor will truly be missed by family and friends. In addition to her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ernest; her dancing partner, Bennie Richter Sr. ; brothers, Lad & Frances Stavinoha, Evan & Angeline Stavinoha, Vojt & Louise Stavinoha, Arnold Stavinoha, and Al & Clara Stavinoha; sisters, Mary & Joe Gurecky and Viola & Henry Hundl; grandson, Patrick Gifford; and great-granddaughter, Sailor Sky Kovasovic. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn Kaminski and husband, Larry, Joyce Oberhoff, and Barbara Briscoe and husband, Lee. Eleanor was the proud Grandma to Tim & Patti Kaminski, Cindy Gifford, Kelly Novicke, Nick & Meaghan Kaminski, Monica & Theo Kovasovic, Melissa & Conrad Novicke, Steven & Jessica Preuss, and Chad & Fawn Preuss. Eleanor is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will include Tim Kaminski, Nick Kaminski, Steven Preuss, Chad Preuss, Taber Kovasovic, and Grayson Novicke. Honorary pallbearers will include Stephen Gifford and Dallas Novicke. The Ernest Family is especially grateful for the support of friends and family during Mrs. Eleanor's final days. They would like to recognize Joyce Oberhoff for being Mom's provider and primary caretaker, tending to her every need morning, noon, and night.
