Herald Coaster, June 27, 1990: Funeral services for Lad L. Stavinoha, 78, of Needville, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment followed the funeral service Wednesday morning at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, with the Rev. Ludon Angelle officiating. Mr. Stavinoha was born Sept. 11, 1911 in Fort Bend County. He died early Monday in Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a charter member and past president of the Needville Lions Club. He was also a charter member of the Holy Name Retreat Center and the 100 Club and was a member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Association. He was a member of the K.J.T. and was an organizer of the Needville Live Oak Club. An honorary member of the FFA, he was a past president of the Needville Chamber of Commerce. He was a well-known business man in the area and was owner of Lad-Pak Inc. and Ladd's Zero Market for 52 years. He was also a rancher. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances Stavinoha of Needville; two daughters, Ladele Stavinoha Duyka and husband, Jody Duyka, of Needville, and Sandra Stavinoha Hartfiel and husband, Jerrel Hartfiel, of Needville; and one son, Dennis Stavinoha and wife, Dorothy, of Needville. He was preceded in death by a son, Sidney Joe Stavinoha. Other survivors are three sisters, Mary Gurecky, Viola Hundl, and Elenora Ernest, all of Rosenberg; two brothers, Evan Stavinoha Sr. of Fairchild and Al Stavinoha of Rosenberg; and nine grandchildren, Shari, Dean, and Steven Stavinoha, Venessa Grandjean and husband, Phil Grandjean, Donna Duyka, and Jilly, Holly, Matthew, and Mark Hartfiel. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Name Retreat Center in Houston, St. Vincent de Paul Society, or St. Michael's Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
