Herald Coaster, April 22, 1998: Funeral services for Evan E. Stavinoha, 90, of Rosenberg, will be held Fri., April 24, 1998, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. A rosary will be held on Thurs., April 23, 1998, at 7 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Father James Ramsey will officiate the services, with Deacon David Mitchell assisting. Mr. Stavinoha was born Jan. 7, 1908 in Ammannsville, TX, and passed away April 21, 1998 in Rosenberg. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and KJT for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline Stavinoha; parents, Vojt Stavinoha and Olga Vacek Stavinoha; sons, Bernard, Arnold, and James Stavinoha; grandson, Jeffrey Stavinoha; great-grandson, Christian Forbes; and brothers, Ladd, Vojt, Al, and Arnold Stavinoha. He is survived by two sons, Ivan Stavinoha and wife, Janice, of Alvin, and Tom Stavinoha and wife, Donna, of Needville; daughters, Dorothy Bush of Victoria, Mary Lee Cameron and husband, Howard, of Rosenberg, Loretta Myska and husband Robert, of Fairchild, Tracy Demel and husband, Kenneth, of Clear Lake City, and Lois Meyer and husband, Lloyd, of Pleak; sisters, Mary Gurecky, Viola Hundl, and Eleanor Ernest, all of Rosenberg; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mr. Stavinoha's grandsons, Mike Hluza, Wade Whatley, Anthony Stavinoha, Bradley Stavinoha, Chip Meyer, Ryan Stavinoha, Matt Demel, and Kevin Stavinoha. Honorary pallbearers will be his remaining grandchildren. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church Building Fund in Needville, or to Holy Rosary Catholic Church "Keep the Vision" Alive" in Rosenberg. Visitation will begin Thurs., April 23, 1998, at 4 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. (FM 2218 at US 59), Rosenberg. (281) 341-8800.
