Robert was born in McLennan County, Texas the son of Joseph C. and Anastasia Hejl Jaska. He passed away in his home in Sherman, Texas. He was a graduate of West High School and Texas A&M University, where he earned Bachelor and Master degrees in agricultural engineering. He was a member of the Texas A&M staff from 1948 to 1980. During World War II, Robert served as a Captain in the China-Burma-India theater of operations and was awarded the Bronze Star. On 23 July 1960, he married Miss Joy Beatrice Cole in Sherman, Texas and they were blessed with three children. Robert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish; Knights of Columbus Council 1289; the American Association of Agricultural Engineers; the Texas and National chapters of Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association; the Professional AG Workers of Texas; the Texas Farm and Ranch Safety Association; Gamma Sigma Delta; and Phi Delta Kappa. Bob was also a charter member of the Tom Bean, Texas, Chamber of Commerce. Among his honors were the Texas FFA's Lone Star Farmer Degree, Leaders in America Science, and Who's Who in South and Southwest. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Jaska , and Edward Jaska . He was survived by his wife of Sherman; sons, Robert C. Jaska Jr of Sherman and Joseph C. Jaska of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Sharon Kay Jaska of Sherman; brothers, Louis B Jaska of Ross and Ernest E. "Bobo" Jaska of West, both in Texas; sisters, Agnes Lednicky of West, Bessie Hlavaty of Abbott, Mary King of Ross and Stasie Janek of West, all in Texas; two grandchildren and two step-grand-children. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St Mary's Church, with Rev. Thomas Speiser officiating. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were members of the Knights of Columbus Council 1289. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dannel Funeral Home. .
