Orah Wayne Kifer, 63, of 418 River Street, Clearfield, Pa., construction superintendent for Harbison-Walker Refractories Company for 25 years, died at the Clearfield Hospital, May 3 following an extended illness. He was born at Scotch Hill, Pa., April 6, 1891, a son of the late Oliver and Rebecca Kifer and had retired from his position with Harbison-Walker last January. He was a member of the West Side Methodist Church, the Clearfield Elks lodge and the Clarion Odd Fellows lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillian [Smith] Kifer and three sons and two daughters: Arthur W., Kenneth L. Kifer and Mrs. Joyce Simcox, all of Clearfield; Miss Carol Kifer at home and Russell W. of Perry, Mo. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Ralph, Wilcox, Pa.; Charles, Erie, Pa.; Mrs. Alda Kroh, Clarion, Pa.; Mrs. Maggie Simpson, Scotch Hill, Pa., and Mrs. Lelia Clyde, and Mrs. Ruth Christy, both of Oil city. A son, Chester, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from the Leavy Funeral Home Thursday, May 6, with Rev. Ralph D. Kinkelman officiating. Interment was in the Crown Crest memorial Park. The Oil City Derrick, Oil City, PA. May 13, 1954
