Friday Nov.27,1987 Fred W.Ponder Services for Fred W.Ponder,76,of route 5,will be held at 2 p.m.Sunday in the Tapp Funeral Chapel . Burial will be in the Reilly Springs Cemetery with P.J.Ponder ,J.D.Ponder,Frank Starrett ,Bob Ponder, Howard Ponder and Jerry Allen Thurmon serving as pallbearers . Mr.Ponder died at 11:40 P.M. Friday in Memorial Hospital . He was born March 4, 1911,in Hopkins County ,the son of Frank and Nobie Whatley Ponder .He married Ottie Evelyn Thurman on Oct.17,1931,in Hugo Okla.She survives . He was a retired inspector for Bectal Oil Company and a member of the Divide Baptist Church . Other survivors include a son ,James Ponder of Route 5; two daughters ,Sue Conner of Tyler and Evelyn Haygood of Route 5 ;a brother Robert Ponder of Commerce ,a sister ,Eula Starrett of Sulphur Springs ;four grandchildren ;and four great -grandchildren . He was prceded in death by six brothers and one sister . Sulphur Springs Dailey News
