Greenville Herald Banner,Wed.24 Oct.1990 Robert Ponder Commerce -Funeral services for Robert Ponder, 81, of Commerce, will be 2 p.m. today in the Pemberton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Rosemound Cemetery. Mr. Ponder died Tuesday in Citizens General Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1908, in Reiley Springs, the son of Frank and Zonobie Whatley Ponder. He married Ruth Easter on March 1, 1931, in Cooper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the VFW and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of Commerce; one daughter, Jolene Ponder Sissel of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and seven brothers. Pallbearers will be nephews Bob Ponder, P.J. Ponder,J.D.Ponder, Frank Ponder, Harold Ponder and Clyde Haygood. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Commerce.
