Ottie E.Ponder Funeral services for Ottie Evelyn Thurman Ponder,age 85, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2:30 P.M.Sunday ,October 10,in West Oaks Funeral Chapel with Rev.Alton Patton and Rev.Dave Gentry officiating . Interment will be in Reilly Springs Cemetery . Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 P.M.Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers : william McDowell ,Jerry Thurman,Douglas McCool ,Ronald Haygood,Kenneth Conner, Charles Coffey,and Randy Conner . Honorary pallbearers:P.J.Ponder.Wayne Hurley,and Trudo Hurley . Mrs.Ponder died at 10:09 P.M. Thursday in Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hopkins County ,Texas ,December 11,1913 the daughter of Alex and Julia Hurley Thurman. She was a seamstress and homemaker and a member of the Divide Baptist Church . She married Fred Ponder in Hugo ,Oklahoma,on October 17,1931 . He preceded her in death on November 29,1987 . Survivors: Son,James Ponder ,Sulphur Springs,Texas ; daughters & sons-in-law Evelyn & Clyde Haygood - Sulphur Springs and Sue and Truett Conner-Tyler ,Texas ;brothers D.A.Thurman - Big Spring ,Texas and Hurley Thurman- Sulphur Springs ;four grandchildren ,Cynthia Haygood Coffey ,Ronald Haygood ,Kenneth Conner ,Randy Conner ;and nine great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters ,Ruby Nell Coker and Mary Lena Swindell .
