Son of Mike & Anne (Kowalski) Valasek. Married to Mary Louise Knapp on 8-17-1953. US Army Veteran - 1-24-1951/10-23-1952 From The Palmer Journal, March 5, 1953, transcribed by Linda Berney: Soldier Honored: Allie J. Valasek, son of Mrs. Anna Valasek, who resides north of the river, was given special honor at a public meeting held in the Legion Hall in Palmer last night. He was presented with the Medal of Merit for service rendered in Korea. Major Patrick H. Andrews of Grand Island presented the medal to Valasek, and in a short talk said that it was awarded for outstanding service of the Palmer boy in keeping communication lines open during combat.
