Bio

Married 4-8-1921 Died in a one car accident near the County line between Merrick and Nance Counties, northeast of Grand Island, NE. Mike Valasek, 58, of Palmer Fatally Injured Saturday Evening Mike Valasek, 58, of Palmer, was killed and two members of his family injured when the car in which they were riding failed to make a turn early Saturday evening northeast of Grand Island. The accident happened on a Merrick county road about 10 miles northeast of Grand Island at 6:45 pm. The car was traveling north and Mr. Valasek apparently was unable to turn when he came to the corner. The car ran into an embankment on the north side of an east-west road. Mrs. Valasek was bruised but not seriously injured. Joseph Valasek, 8, received a broken right leg. The two injured persons were taken to the St. Francis Hospital at Grand Island for treatment. Survivors besides his wife, Anne, and son Joseph, include five other sons, Leo of Grand Island, Allie, with the armed forces in Seoul, Korea, and Ed, Mike Jr. and Alfred at home and one daughter, Mrs. Irene Slizoski, Fullerton. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Robert O'Neill officiated. Burial was in the O'Connor Cemetery.
