Custer County Chief November 20, 1947 Clyde Irvin Roach, son of John and Sarah Roach was born on a farm in Corning, Iowa January 13, 1882 & passed away at his farm home near Sargent November 3, 1947 at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 20 days. He came to Custer County when he was 19 years old & worked several years before establishing a home near Sargent where he lived for over 40 years. On June 24, 1908 he was united in marriage to Almena Kringle. They were the patents of 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. The youngest boys were twins. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1931. In June 1940 he was married to Carrie L. Cosner of Ada, Ohio. Those who mourn his departure are his wife Carrie; 5 sons, Gene of Houston, Idaho, Wayne of Sargent, Archie of Marsing, Idaho, the twins Milo of Scottsbluff & Merle of Sargent' one daughter Mrs. Mary Packard of Burwell. Seventeen grandchildren. One sister Mrs Fred Leibert of Sargent, three brothers John & Fred Roach of Grand Island, Homer Roach of Corning Iowa. One Brother James & one sister Mrs. Cora Leibert preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church in Sargent on Thursday November 6, 1947 with the Rev. E.A. Smith in charge. Hymns were sung by Bernard Bush accompanied by Mrs Robert Brown at the piano. Pallbearers were Vern Leach, August Kostelesky, Henry Peters, David Vincent, Charles Kriz and Ben Detet. Interment was made in the Sargent cemetery.
